The Claimants, who operate a legal partnership known as Earnest Attorneys LP, opened a corporate account with the Defendant, Stanbic IBTC Bank Limited, sometime in 2024. In the course of opening the account, the Claimants completed the Defendant’s standard account-opening and Know-Your-Customer documentation, which contained provisions relating to the collection and processing of personal information, including the use of such information for marketing and promotional communications. In the course of the banking relationship, the Defendant obtained the personal information of the 1st Claimant, including his name, telephone number, email address and residential address, as well as the corporate information of the partnership.
