The Appellant, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and the Pastor in charge of Province 2 of the Redeemed Christian Church of God overseeing nearly Two Hundred Parishes, maintained an account with Barclays Bank Plc through the Respondent, its representative in Nigeria, although the account was domiciled with the International Branch of Barclays Bank Plc in England. It was his case that at the time of opening the account, he was not informed, either verbally or in writing, that he would be required to provide written confirmation before any cheque issued on the account would be honoured.
